Description
The need to preserve our municipal roadway pavement infrastructure is aparamount to ensuring the viability of the transportation of people and goods. This requires ever-increasing investments because road infrastructure is typically the most valuable asset owned by public agencies. The consequence of the lack of systematic maintenance and renewal is accelerated deterioration of the asset condition, which then requires a more expensive treatment to return the asset to a serviceable condition.
This webinar focuses on risk management, transportation asset resilience, disaster recovery and life-cycle planning. While most agencies have disaster/emergency management plans, not all have formal risk management plans. Risk management does not replace traditional asset management but rather complements it by documenting possible risks that may impact the short- or long-term performance of assets, assesses the probability of occurrence of the event happening and potential measures to reduce the impact of the risk.
While many agencies practice risk management for their transportation infrastructure on a daily basis, a formal risk management plan allows the agency to achieve their performance management objectives and communicate to stakeholders the risks that they cannot control.
