This course is held online over 3 days on the following schedule (All times in Eastern Time Zone):

Description
Managing public infrastructure assets is increasingly complex, driven by aging systems, growing service expectations, funding constraints, and heightened sustainability and accountability requirements. Making informed decisions about maintenance, renewal, and investment requires more than technical knowledge, it demands a structured, strategic approach to asset management.
This course provides a practical introduction to infrastructure asset management (IAM) as a decision‑support discipline. You will explore how asset management principles are applied in real organizational contexts, from defining levels of service and evaluating asset condition to managing risk, funding trade‑offs, and long‑term performance. Emphasis is placed on aligning technical, financial, and policy considerations across the full asset lifecycle.
Through applied frameworks, real‑world examples, and recognized industry practices, this course equips you with the tools needed to build or strengthen an asset management program that is sustainable, defensible, and aligned with organizational and regulatory expectations. You will leave with a clearer understanding of how to translate asset data into actionable strategies and credible asset management plans.

FORMATEUR
Dr. Khaled Shahata is an asset management leader with over 15 years of experience in municipal and public-sector infrastructure planning. He currently serves as Project Manager, Asset Management – Infrastructure Programming at the Region of Peel. Previously, Khaled led the City of London’s Corporate Asset Management Division, managing a $30 billion portfolio across water, wastewater, roads, parks, and other core services. He is known for advancing level of service strategies, integrating climate change into infrastructure planning, and implementing modern asset management systems. He is also an Instructor at the University of Niagara Falls Canada (UNFC), teaching data analytics and visualization in the Master of Data Analytics program, with a focus on applying tools like Tableau and Power BI to real-world asset management.
Khaled holds a Ph.D. in Construction Management from Concordia University and is a licensed Professional Engineer (P. Eng.) in Ontario. He has been an EPIC instructor since 2011, delivering training to municipalities and agencies across Canada.
He currently serves as Vice Chair of Asset Management Ontario (AMONTario) and Regional Director – Ontario on the Board of the Canadian Network of Asset Managers (CNAM).
